Introduction to Year 2
Welcome to Foster and Adlington class, Year 2.
Miss Tucker is the class teacher for Foster class with Mrs Driver as the class teaching assistant and Mrs Mettrick is the teacher for Adlington class with Mrs Wort as the teaching assistant.
We have had a brilliant start to Year 2 and we are very happy with the enthusiasm each child has shown so far. This half term our topic is Monsters and Minibeasts and the book we are focusing on is Emily Brown and 'The Thing'.
Our other topics this year are:
Autumn 2- Great Fire of London
Spring 1- Frozen Planet
Spring 2- Incredible India
Summer 1- Rainforest
Summer 2- Oh I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside.
Each term we will be sending home a homework grid for the children to complete. They will complete one piece each week and bring it back in their homework journal to the teacher every Monday. If you would like any extra support, then please do speak to your child's class teacher.
This year we are going on two trips. One will be to St. Phillip’s Woodland to explore Minibeasts and develop our mapping skills. The other trip will be to Little Hampton in the summer term. The dates for these will be shared shortly.
We would like to remind you that your child will need to have their PE kits in school for every Tuesday and Wednesday for our indoor and outdoor PE lessons.
We both have an open door policy and are available to speak about school life and your child both in the morning and after school. If you have something which will require a little more time to discuss, please make an appointment with us or through the school office.
Our class assemblies this year will be:
Foster- 26th January (Frozen Planet)
Adlington- 17th November (The Great Fire of London)
We both look forward to meeting you on the 17th October for Parent consultation afternoon.
