Viking longship seascapes
Come and see the collaborative seascapes that were created today.
The process that the children went through began with a plain old piece of cardboard. The first step was to cover the paper in a collage of white torn paper that was glued to the cardboard; this created the canvas on which the painting was created. The outline of the longship was sketched followed by adding layers of paint for the sea and sky. Next the shields were created followed by the sails. The final medium to be applied was pastels or oil pastels to add depth to the colour. A final black-lining was used to add an outline to the ships to draw the observer’s eyes to the focus of the art piece.
The 'Vikings' worked incredibly hard on their creations. They will on display in classroom and you are more than welcome to come in for a viewing.
