Ellingham Primary School

Strong roots for flourishing futures

Ellingham Girls Do It Again!

Our Year 2 girls played some fantastic football at CCC yesterday...

What a fantastic afternoon for our team of Year 2 girls, playing the whole tournament unbeaten!
The girls played 5 games against some very tough opposition and they all worked extremely well as a team.  All the girls were delighted to play in their first tournament for the  school!
In the first game against Tolworth, two great goals from Francesca and Skyler gave Ellingham a 2-0 win!
Coombe brought tougher opposition in the second match, but again the girls worked extremely hard with and for one another and a neatly taken goal from Francesca wrapped up the victory.
Maple Primary School gave the team their toughest game having played very well in their first two matches, but Ellingham were extremely focused. Francesca again gave Ellingham a very early lead. However, super goal from Maple put them back on level pegging with us.  Zainab  pulled off three fantastic saves to keep Ellingham in the game; which ended very fairly at 1-1.
Another tough game followed against Alexandra. However two quick goals from Tyla  settled any nerves! After a very suspicious throw in that went straight in the goal...Ellingham came out on top with a 2-1 victory!
The final game was probably the best performance... the perfect ending! A wonderful 4-1 victory over Burlington summed up incredible performances by all and was the icing on the cake of a great day.  Goals from Brianna, Tyla and Francesca took us to 3-1, before Ellingham scored a fourth... We weren't too sure who got the fourth goal so it was attributed to the whole team!
Mr Clune was incredibly impressed with the girls attitude, commitment and hard work! Well done Francesca, Brianna, Skyler, Zainab, Isabel, Hattie and Tyla... each of you did Ellingham proud!
