Football Team Ellingham!
On 12 April Ellingham were one of eight schools to take part in the mixed team football finals...
This was the cream of the crop that Kingston had to offer; the eight best mixed teams in the borough, battling it out for glory.
Although we came in 6th place, this did not truly represent the effort and slim margins which could have seen us end up as winners. Out of our seven games, we won three and lost four. In three of the four loses, Ellingham had more possession, work rate and shots on target than the opposition. The other loss was against the eventual winners, who beat us by a contentious 3-2 score line. It should have been 3-3 as the Ellingham ‘no goal’ was scored on the final whistle.
The team had the potential to win six games and draw one, which might have been enough to be crowned borough champions. Alas, it was not to be.
What must be celebrated, is the spirit in which every second of every game was played: with passion, drive and commitment from every player wearing the Ellingham kit. We are incredibly proud of Team Ellingham!
