Collaborative learning in maths
A few weeks ago, Year 6 had a fantastic maths lesson learning about the different averages (mean, median, mode, range). During this lesson, the children were given very little help by adults and were instead asked to define the different averages using the variety of calculations given on the tables. Shakespeare class recognised that in order for this to be a successful lesson, they must work well with their group and share ideas and thoughts.
Overall, the lesson was fun for the pupils because they were able to design a poster and they had succeeded in identifying the different ways to calculate the averages.
