How Many Different Words Can You Use To Describe Size?
In class we have been talking about how we can describe the size of objects in our everyday surroundings. We are trying to move the children away from just using "big" and "small" for everything!
We have looked at different describing words and tried to link them into familiar experiences; for instance knowing that there are deep and shallow ends to a swimming pool, or that some children are taller than others.
See the document below showing the pictures we have used to help the children remember the terms that can be used in different situations.
Why don't you see if your child can tell you any of them?
Even better, if you notice them using these terms (or similar) in their everyday play and discussion, then please let us know!
